Hernangomez was drafted in 2016 by the New York Knicks. As a rookie, he averaged 8.2 points and seven rebounds per game. This was an impressive stat line that earned him the honors of NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Currently, backup center Willy Hernangomez is averaging 7.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Charlotte Hornets. With limited playing time, he has managed to put up on consistent nights when he gets more minutes.
While coming off of the bench, Hernangomez has had to share minutes with the seasoned veteran, Bismack Biyombo. In the previous loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Hernangomez saw only but seven minutes in the game.
