As of late, the Charlotte Hornets just have not had enough firepower on offense to finish during close games.

In the most recent loss by the Charlotte Hornets to the Philadelphia 76ers, All-Star Kemba Walker balled out and racked up sixty points! This would lead to a new career high in scoring within the game for Walker.

Even though Kemba scored sixty points, only one other starter managed to score up to twenty points, and that was Jeremy Lamb. Lamb managed to rack up twenty points, and ten rebounds while starting.

Other starters in the loss like Cody ZellerMarvin Williams and Nicolas Batum only combined for a total of fourteen points. This is not an ideal scoring threat that helps the Hornets win, especially when it comes to close games in the fourth quarter.

The Hornets must find another player to add to their roster who will fit into their scheme and provide the needed help for Kemba Walker. Here are some players who can potentially help Kemba get the job done

Potential Trade Targets

One of the first players that the Hornets can look to trade for is Carmelo Anthony. Fellow Swarm and Sting writers Zachary Padmore and De White recently provided much-needed insight on the possible acquisition on the seventeen-year pro.

Anthony, who is currently on the Houston Rockets, could provide much-needed offense for the Hornets, and a better change of scenery may just be what he needs. In his past three seasons, Anthony has averaged 17.3 points per game; the Hornets would definitely be getting scoring threat here.

More from Swarm and Sting

According to Sports Illustrated, Beal and even John Wall are on the hot seat when it comes to a potential trade. It seems as if the Washington Wizards are looking to enter a rebuild mode this year.

Beal, who got selected as an All-Star for the first time in his career last year, is currently averaging 21.5 points per game with the Wizards. If the Hornets were to look into this trade, they would need to offer something good enough to draw some interest from the Wizards.

Love is a player that is more than likely going to be traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers. While his season has been injury plagued as of late, Love has still managed to average nineteen points per game through his first four games.

Love would be a definite upgrade from current start Marvin Williams. Marvin is currently averaging 7.3 points per game while shooting at a disappointing .286 percent from behind the three-point line. Since the Cavaliers are rebuilding as it seems, the Hornets could possibly get a good deal for Love.

Kanter is a player who has yet to find his right role in the NBA. As of late, he has been unhappy with the amount of playing time that he has received with the New York Knicks.

Kanter is averaging 15.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season; he also even managed to rack up twenty-one points and nineteen rebounds yesterday during the Knicks’ loss to the Orlando Magic.

Kanter would be a massive upgrade over current starter Cody Zeller; Kanter can also play power forward as well. Imagine a starting frontcourt of Enes Kanter and former Knick Willy Hernangomez.

Final Thoughts

The Hornets must find a way to get some help for Kemba Walker. Every night, it should not have to be Kemba who is carrying his team all alone; he needs another scoring threat!

The Kemba Walker’s supporting cast will need to step it up tonight as they take on the Boston Celtics at home; not to mention the Hornets will be sporting their city jerseys. The Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker matchup for tonight will be an exciting one.
