Hassan Whiteside

We here at Swarm and Sting have identified Hassan Whiteside as a potential Charlotte Hornets target on numerous occasions, and I’m going to do it again.

Hassan Whiteside would be a really good pickup for the Hornets. With Miami’s season in question, and Whiteside involved in some drama quite often, the Heat could look to deal him this season. He’s exactly what the Hornets need, so he could be worth the risk.

The guy just stuffs the stat sheet. He’s averaging a double-double this season, scoring 13.1 points and hauling in 13.5 rebounds in just 26.4 minutes. Plus, he’s blocking 2.7 shots per game. All of that in under 30 minutes, it’s very impressive.

Whiteside is a walking double-double that would make an instant impact on the Hornets. Also, as co-expert Giovanni Spillman pointed out recently, he’s from North Carolina, so it would be a pretty cool homecoming for him.

He’s one of the more feared rim protectors in the entire league, and figures to be a pretty good fit with Kemba Walker. Out of all the players in the league, I think Whiteside should be right at the top of the list among potential trade targets for the Charlotte Hornets.
