Charlotte Hornets: Ranking the Past 10 Charlotte Seasons
8. (2014-2015) Charlotte Hornets
This season ended up being significant, for the fact that it was when the Hornets returned to the Queen City. The Hornets had not been in Charlotte since the 2001-2002 season.
The draft leading up to this season had to be one of the worst in recent years for the team. The Hornets selected Noah Vonleh with their first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Steve Clifford remained the head coach during the season, and the team finished with a record of 33-49. The top three leading scorers consisted of Kemba Walker (17.3 PPG), Mo Williams (17.2 PPG), and Al Jefferson (16.6 PPG).
At this time, Jefferson had the largest salary with the team with $13,666,667. While Jefferson’s contract was high, it was no secret that the veteran deserved to be making this money.
This was a season where Kemba Walker did not play to his fullest; dealing with injuries throughout the course of the season. Thankfully the team had Mo Williams to run the point while Kemba was out.
The Hornets had high hopes for this season, after falling to the Miami Heat in the playoffs the year before. It wouldn’t be until the 2015-2016 season when the team would go back to the playoffs.
