There were high hopes for the Hornets this season as they traded Marco Belinelli and Miles Plumlee for Dwight Howard. Charlotte finished with a record of 36-46 on the year.; the same record as their previous season.

Kemba Walker became an All-Star this season for the second time in his career. Walker also received the Sportsmanship award for the second consecutive year, following the 2016-2017 season.

In the NBA draft, the Hornets selected Malik Monk with their first-round pick. Monk was a great player who fell in the draft, but most of his rookie year growth was hindered because of Coach Clifford benching him. The team would also sign former rookie of the year, Michael Carter-Williams in free agency.

The leading scorer for the team was no other than Kemba Walker (22.1 PPG), with Dwight just behind him with 16.6 points per game. The two proved to be a dangerous combination on the court.

This season featured a game where Walker knocked down ten threes in a blowout win over the Memphis Grizzlies. In the game before this one, Dwight Howard had a performance of thirty-two points and thirty rebounds; helping the team come back and win against the Brooklyn Nets.

The team also was able to beat the Golden State Warriors on the road mid-way through the season. While this game did not feature Stephen Curry, it was still exciting to see the Hornets defeat the NBA champs.
