3. (2013-2014) Charlotte Bobcats

In the year before the Bobcats would transition back into becoming the Hornets, the team was able to make a run into the playoffs. Charlotte finished with a record of 43-39, while also finishing as third in their division.

This was the first season that Steve Clifford coached in Charlotte, and he made the most of it by taking a declining Charlotte team into the playoffs. Charlotte was not looking back at their poor previous season.

The Bobcats would make it to the playoffs, only to lose to Lebron James and the Miami Heat in 0-4 fashion. Despite this loss in the playoffs, the team still had a stellar year for the city of Charlotte.

Before the season, the Bobcats would select Cody Zeller in the 2013 NBA Draft, while also signing Al Jefferson to a three-year deal. Newly signed Jefferson would end up making the NBA-All Third Team.

This year’s top three contributors were Al Jefferson (21.8 PPG and 10.8 RPG), Kemba Walker (17.7 PPG and 6.1 APG), and Gerald Henderson (14 PPG). It was no secret that this Charlotte team had some studs playing on it.

This Charlotte team had the potential to make some noise in the playoffs, but they were matched up with the former NBA champions. A lot of hype followed their playoff series, as they were about to become the Hornets again.
