Trading away youth to Cleveland

What would it take to land Kevin Love from the Cavaliers?

Well, a rebuilding team like Cleveland is going to be interested in young players and draft picks. It may take someone like Nicolas Batum to match the salaries out, but Charlotte would likely have to include some young players and draft picks as well.

The young core of this team, Malik Monk, Miles Bridges, Devonte’ Graham and Dwayne Bacon, have all shown some real positive signs this season, and you would think the team would rather hold on to them and continue to let them develop.

Trading away draft picks is also risky, especially for a team that could be rebuilding themselves in the future, depending on how Kemba Walker’s free agency plays out.

Would it be worth trading some young guys with huge upside for a 30 year old proven star? In some cases, absolutely. In the Hornets case, I think they may be better off keeping the youth around for now.

Kevin Love would certainly be a good addition for the Charlotte Hornets, but they must be careful and take all of these things into consideration. For the right price, it may be worth bringing Love to Charlotte.
