Kemba Walker

What could the Charlotte Hornets net in return for their superstar point guard? Well, there’s two answers to that question.

If the Hornets are looking to move Kemba and go into a rebuild, then trading him for young players and draft picks is what makes the most sense. If the team is looking to move him for another big time talent, then trading him for a fellow All-Star could also be a realistic scenario.

During the off-season, we saw the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs swap All-Stars in Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan. The Spurs also got Jakob Poeltl and a first round pick in the deal.

In my opinion, trading Kemba would signal a rebuild for Charlotte. He’s in the prime of his career, and most teams in the league would love to have him, and would probably be willing to part ways with young talent and assets if it means adding a star guard that could potentially take them to the next level.

If the Hornets are limping into the Trade Deadline, I expect the Walker trade rumors to gain some steam once again. That seems to happen every year, though. Fans are hopeful that he will remain with the team past the deadline and eventually re-sign with the team as a free agent over the summer.
