Marvin Williams

It’s unclear if the Charlotte Hornets are shopping Marvin Williams, but if they decide to, they should be able to get a decent return for him.

Williams is an NBA veteran, currently in the midst of his fourteenth season as a pro. He’s a reliable stretch-four, and with shooting becoming such a priority over the years, he could generate interest from teams around the league.

He’s shooting 39 percent from three-point range this season, and averaging 10.0 points on the season. I think if they decide to move Marvin, it would be to a playoff contending team, that way they can land a solid late-first round draft pick in exchange for him.

Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of teams make trades to acquire an impact player in order to improve the roster for the postseason. One that comes to mind is last years Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans trade.

The Pelicans acquired Nikola Mirotic, who has been huge for them since coming over in the trade. Chicago acquired some veterans along with a 2018 first round pick, which ended up being Chandler Hutchison, who they are very high on.

It was a win-win trade, and a kind of trade I can see the Hornets making with Williams.
