The latest rumor regarding the Charlotte Hornets is the reported interest in Garrett Temple and JaMychal Green of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Another day, another rumor. That’s how it is this time of year. The Charlotte Hornets have had reported interest in many players around the league, and you may be adding Garrett Temple and JaMychal Green to the list.

According to SportingNews, the Grizzlies are shopping both players, and the Hornets have expressed interest in one or both players. With Memphis headed towards a full rebuild, they’d like an asset like a draft pick or a younger player in return.

There’s no doubt about it, both Temple and Green could be big additions for a playoff team. Temple is a proven “3&D” guy and is also an excellent presence to have in the locker room. Temple was traded to Memphis from Sacramento during the off-season.

Green is another “3&D” player, but he’s much bigger than Temple is. He’s shown that he’s a capable three-point shooter at the power forward position, a good defender and good rebounder. Green is a scrappy player that would fit on most teams in the league, a player you’d love to have on your team.

Temple is averaging 9.6 points for Memphis this year, while shooting a solid 36 percent from three-point range. Green is averaging 10.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and is shooting 39 percent from deep.

While Temple is probably the more attainable player, Green is someone to keep an eye on. He’s going to cost more, but there’s a lot to like about his game. I think he could come in and help the Hornets right away, as they clearly need some help in the front court.

His ability to stretch the floor, but also be active in the paint and on the glass has got to appeal to the Charlotte Hornets, who are looking for more contributions from their big men with Cody Zeller currently nursing a fractured hand.

The report from SportingNews adds that the Portland Trail Blazers also have interest in one or both players. It’s not surprising at all to hear that potential playoff teams are interested in both players.

Will trading a first-round pick be necessary to re-sign Walker?. dark. Next

The trade deadline is on February 7th, and the rumors are only going to get hotter as we get closer. The Charlotte Hornets have been involved in plenty of these rumors, so I am personally expecting them to make some sort of move prior to the deadline.
