The first quarter of this game was very sluggish for the Hornets; a quarter where the team started as slow as they did against the Grizzlies on the road, on January 23rd. The Hornets would eventually begin to heat up in the second quarter, and would then go on to lack defense in the third quarter. The team would finish the final quarter strong, scoring a game-high of thirty points.

In this game, starter Jeremy Lamb only played fourteen minutes, and he was invisible in the second half. Monk played a majority of Lamb’s minutes, finishing the game with twenty-six minutes.

Monk scored fourteen points in the final quarter and was almost unstoppable on the offensive side of the court. Following the game, Coach Borrego stated that “Malik is pushing me to play more and more minutes… He’s doing a great job.”
