Gasol fits like a glove

Marc Gasol, a 3X All-Star, former Defensive Player of the Year, a legitimate stretch-five… THIS is the man the Charlotte Hornets need.

Gasol would fit nicely on any NBA team, but his fit with the Hornets is obvious. The team gets some solid production in the front court from guys like Cody Zeller and Willy Hernangomez, but neither of them are nothing like Gasol.

He can space the floor, knock down the three-point shot, he’s a very good passer and a great defensive player. He’s got great size at 7’1″ and can really do work down low in the paint. This guy is a winner and has been a joy to watch throughout his 11 year career.

Gasol is such a tough cover. If you try to help defend Kemba Walker on the drive, Gasol will be ready to stretch the floor and hit from the perimeter. If you’re in the middle of a broken play, Gasol is a great option to throw the ball to in the post and tell him to get a basket.

I think he would fit perfectly in the pick-and-roll game with Walker, and I really think he’d enjoy playing in Coach Borrego’s system. Borrego is all about ball movement, player movement and pace, and while he is not the fastest guy in the gym, he’ll work hard and bring a winning attitude to a team trying so hard to get into the playoffs.
