Bruno Fernando

Bruno Fernando’s draft stock is sort of all over the place. Some people have him in the lottery, but some people have him in the late first round.

I, for one, am not completely sold on Fernando as a prospect, but there’s no denying that he’s a physical specimen that has plenty of potential. He could be a good pick for the Charlotte Hornets in the first round.

Getting back to that physical specimen statement… This man is 6’10” and 240 pounds. He is a load in the paint and a nightmare for opposing college centers. Fernando is averaging 14.1 points and 10.5 rebounds for Maryland this season.

Fernando has improved his defense and playmaking big time as a sophomore, and that’s helped him earn the reputation of being one of the best centers in all of college basketball.

He projects to be a force in the paint at the next level. I’d like to see him work on his shooting and improve his range. He’s only made two three-pointers this season, but he has shown a nice touch from the free-throw line, making 77 percent of his foul shots.

If the Hornets are looking for a true big man, Fernando is a great option in the first round.
