The Charlotte Hornets needed players to step up in Friday night’s game against the Washington Wizards, and Marvin Williams was one of them.

The Charlotte Hornets now sit with a record of 30-35 after their big win in Uptown against the Washington Wizards on Friday night. This game came down to the wire, and it resulted in a 112-111 final score.

The Hornets had some rough stretches in this game, but it wasn’t until the end that the Hornets would finally secure the victory. While Kemba Walker did not have his usual 20+ point game, two other players stepped up big for him.

More from Swarm and Sting

Marvin Williams and Jeremy Lamb both had a huge game in Friday night’s win. Williams finished the game with a whopping 30 points (led the team in scoring) and had seven rebounds. Willaims also tied his career high in threes made in a game with seven.

What could have propelled Marvin to have this kind of night? Could it have been his jersey number, and the fact that it was Larry Johnson night?

Lamb also had a strong outing throughout the game, and he hit key shots that would ensure a victory for the Hornets.

He finished the game with 19 points and ten rebounds for Charlotte. What was fascinating, was that Lamb hit the game-winning shot to put the Hornets up by one towards the end of the game.

Toward the end of the first half, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would go down with a knee injury and would not return for the rest of the game. Dwayne Bacon would take his spot, and then go on to start in the second half for the Charlotte Hornets.

Bacon has barely played this season for the Hornets, and he has received most of his playing time in the G-League. Bacon finished the game with 10 points and three rebounds, while also locking down Bradley Beal on the final defensive possession of the game.

This game was a team effort for the Hornets, and it was nice to see Walker get some help from his supporting cast. The Hornets need this kind of team effort every night they take the court.

Hot. What would a potential playoff rotation look like?. light

Following this win, the Hornets will travel to take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night, the second half of back to back. The Hornets must find a way to lock down the potential MVP candidate, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
