The Charlotte Hornets were not able to pull off a win against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, but it did not stop one player from having a career game.

On Monday night, the Charlotte Hornets fell to the Utah Jazz with a final score of 111-102. This game did not seem competitive throughout, and it would only start to get good in the last minutes.

In the second half of the game, Kemba Walker would go off and score over thirty points. This was impressive, as the team’s captain really stepped it up in the clutch for the Hornets. It felt as if Walker could not miss a shot in the final two minutes of the game.

Walker finished the game with a game-high of 47 points and was able to knock down four three-pointers in the process. It felt as if Walker was the only player who was fighting in the final stages of the game.

More from Swarm and Sting

The Hornets were riddled by careless turnovers in the fourth quarter, but at that closing stages of the game, Walker had enough of it. What is sad, is that Walker outscored his fellow starters 47-6; two other starters did not even score a point.

This game was ultimately lost because of the Hornets’ starting unit. If the Hornets would have helped Walker just by a little, the team may have had a better chance to come out with a win.

The only players who did help came from the bench; those were Jeremy Lamb who had twenty-three points, and Willy Hernangomez who finished with fifteen. Other than those two guys, Walker’s supporting cast needs to step it up.

Overall, Walker did end up making personal history in this game. He finished the game with a new career high in threes made in a season (243), his previous record was 240. Walker would also go on to tie a team record as well.

Currently, Walker is tied with Glen Rice for most threes made in a season. If Walker makes just one more three-pointer, he will become the franchise’s All-Time leader in threes made in a season.

If Walker breaks this record, it will just solidify his spot as the best player in Charlotte Hornets history. I am confident that Walker will hit a three in one of the last seven games that remain for the Hornets.

This was the last game that the Hornets could afford to lose; they need to be locked in from here on out if they wish to make the playoffs. They must come back strong with a win road win on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
