No. 12 – Los Angeles Lakers:
Zachary Padmore – Nickeil Alexander-Walker. (Virginia Tech)’=
“I feel like I am always projecting Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Lakers when I am doing a mock draft or just simply looking at the projected draft class itself. I think it would be a great fit for the sophomore from Virginia Tech.
He’s one of my favorite players in this draft because of his size and two-way ability. I wish he was more developed at this stage as a shooter, but the big thing is that he defends, he’s athletic and he’ll get to the basket with ease.
Los Angeles could very well trade this pick prior to the draft, but if they elect to keep the selection, Alexander-Walker would be high on my list in the late lottery range.
Giovanni Spillman – Nickeil Alexander-Walker. (Virginia Tech)
“The Lakers have not had the season that they wanted to have this season, but there is always room to improve on any NBA roster.
The Lakers have lacked a true shooting guard, and it has led to many unproductive players to be played at the position. Alexander-Walker would fit nicely in the Lakers rotation, and I can see him playing great basketball next to LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma.
Alexander-Walker averaged 16.2 points, 4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game for Virginia Tech this season. He has the ability to shoot the basketball at a nice percentage, while finding his teammates for an assist.
He has also shown that he has nice perception on the defensive side of the court with his ability to get steals.”
