No. 15 – Miami Heat:

Zachary Padmore – KZ Okpala. (Stanford)

“I’ve mentioned KZ Okpala a few times as a potential target for the Charlotte Hornets come draft day, and I still believe that could be the case.

I didn’t have him projected to the Hornets in this mock draft, but he wasn’t far after, going to Miami at 15th overall. Okpala is a lengthy combo forward that will be able to cause havoc at the next level thanks to his length and activity.

His jump-shot isn’t the best right now, but if he can add that to his game, it’s going to make him a lot more dangerous. He has the playmaking skills, the athletic ability and the versatility, so a jumper would take him a long way.

Miami has a few young wings in Justise Winslow and Josh Richardson, but you can never have enough wings in this league. Okpala would be a good project for the Heat in the first round.”

Giovanni Spillman – Jaxson Hayes. (Texas)

“It’s unclear how the Heat’s off-season will go, but I only see them going after a player at the power forward position.

The Heat are currently stacked at center with Hassan Whiteside and Bam Adebayo. If they select Jaxson Hayes, they will get a future starter for their power forward spot.

The Heat have not had a lot of production from the four spot ever since Chris Bosh retired, but they can turn everything around with this selection. While Hayes only started 21 games in college, he still has the potential to be a physical forward.

Miami is usually interested in players that are physical in the paint and who are great defenders at the rim. Hayes would give the Heat a decent scorer and a great defender at the four spot. The only downside about this pick is that Hayes is not that great of a perimeter shooter.”
