Charlotte Hornets: 2019 NBA Mock Draft Vol. 1
No. 27 – Brooklyn Nets (VIA DEN):
Zachary Padmore – Matisse Thybulle. (Washington)
“Thybulle is another guy that is going to come into the league NBA ready, especially on the defensive end. He may be the best perimeter defender in this draft, and is definitely worthy of a first round selection.
He averaged a ridiculous 3.5 steals per game this season for Washington, as well as 2.2 blocks per game.
The Nets have done a good job gathering assets over the years and developing young players, so if Thybulle goes to the right team, I think he has a chance to be a real weapon in the future.”
Giovanni Spillman – Brandon Clarke. (Gonzaga)
“With the Nets final pick in the first round, I suggest that they select Brandon Clarke, a player who can improve the forward spot a lot.
He played his college basketball for San Jose State, and one year at Gonzaga. He averaged 16.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game this season. He is a great dynamic scorer, and he can do some damage on the defensive side of the court.
With the proper preparation, I think that he can become a dominant defender for the Nets. The Nets have needed a great two-way player, and I feel Clarke is the perfect late-round steal for them.
I personally see him possibly starting over Nassir Little if both of these players actually end up being taken by the Nets.”
