No. 7 – Atlanta Hawks (VIA DAL):

Zachary Padmore – Brandon Clarke. (Gonzaga)

“One of the biggest risers in this years draft is Brandon Clarke, who is viewed by many, including me, as a lottery pick.

I could see Clarke really helping a team picking in the late lottery. He’s played three years of college basketball, so he’ll be ready to make an impact right away. He’s athletic, finishes around the rim efficiently and blocks a lot of shots.

With John Collins developing his outside shot, I think that he and Clarke can indeed co-exist in the front court together, and that’s something that I would love to see.

Giovanni Spillman – Bruno Fernando. (Maryland)

“This selection seems like a no brainer, as current Hawks starter Dewayne Dedmon becomes an unrestricted free agent in the off-season. If the Hawks decide to not re-sign Dedmon, they should look to draft Bruno Fernando.

Fernando is a tough athlete from Maryland, and he averaged a double-double during the season. He would be a nice replacement for Dedmon, as he is almost similar in size to Dedmon.

He does not possess much of an outside game, but he has the ability to finish around the rim. He has also proven to be a nice defender, as he finished this season with 1.9 blocks per game.”
