The Charlotte Hornets will have Monday off, but that shouldn’t stop Mitch Kupchak from scouting the players in the NCAA National Championship game.

The Charlotte Hornets have a break on Monday night before they take on two teams in two consecutive days. During this one-day break before the last games of the season, the Hornets should pay attention to the National Championship game.

The National Championship will be decided between two dominant teams, Virginia and Texas Tech. Both teams are looking to earn their storybook ending on Monday night, but only one team will prevail.

These two teams have had a great season, and they both earned the right to participate in the National Championship game. This game will be the highlight of Monday, as it has a 9:20 PM start time.

More from Swarm and Sting

It should be noted that both of these teams can get after it on the defensive side of the court, and they both have a nice transition game. The Hornets should pay attention to the defensive plays, as they could be looking for a two-way player in the draft.

Key Players-

Virginia: De’Andre Hunter and Kyle Guy

Texas Tech: Jarrett Culver and Matt Mooney

These players on both of the teams will be the key contributors from both sides in Monday’s game. Hunter is a player to definitely look at, as he could potentially be a lottery pick in the draft this year.

All four of these players can do multiple things on the court, but it seems that Virginia has more physical talent on their roster. If Charlotte is looking for a guard in the draft, they should look at Texas Tech on Monday night.

Texas Tech has two great guards on their roster, and they are two of their key players. Culver averaged more points throughout the year with 18.6 points per game while Mooney averaged 11.3 points. Culver would be nice to scout, as he potentially may be picked in the lottery.

Moreover, if Charlotte wants a more physical and dynamic addition to their team, I would recommend that they scout Virginia. Hunter had a great season for Virginia this year while averaging 14.9 points and five rebounds per game. Kyle Guy also had a nice season with 15.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

It’s hard for Charlotte to go wrong if they decide to scout an individual player during this game because both of these teams worked hard to get to this point. It’s not easy to make it to the National Championship game, so these players should not be taken lightly.

The Hornets must make a first-round selection in the NBA draft in two months, so who knows if this game will actually affect who they draft. What should be remembered, is that the Hornets have done well when going after players who have won a National Championship.
