3. Bridges’ late season surge
Let me tell you something, I was completely wrong about Miles Bridges, and I’m willing to admit to that.
Before the 2018 NBA Draft, I personally was not very high on Bridges’ upside, and thought he had ‘bust’ potential. His play this season, specifically down the stretch, though, has completely changed my mind.
After the All-Star break, James Borrego inserted Bridges into the starting lineup, moving Jeremy Lamb to the bench as the sixth man. Bridges brought a tremendous amount of defense and athleticism to the lineup, and was looking more and more confident offensively late into the season.
I really wish we got to see Bridges continue to play going into the playoffs, but we’ll have to wait until Summer League. If he has a strong summer and continues to work on things like his shooting and ball handling, he could be in for a monster sophomore season.
In the final month of the season, Bridges averaged 10.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals.
Those are great all-around numbers. He was a force on defense, his passing looked so much better, and we saw him attack the basket more often, instead of settling for a jumper. The sky is the limit for “Sky Miles.”
