One of the better two-way guards in this years draft is Virginia Tech’s Nickeil Alexander-Walker. As of right now, he’s projected to be drafted right around where the Charlotte Hornets will likely be picking in next month’s draft.

Alexander-Walker is a combo-guard, but point guard may be his best position moving forward in the NBA. He has great size at 6’5″, and a long 6’9″ wingspan. He’s a lot more polished on the defensive end compared to some of the top guards in this draft like Ja Morant and Coby White.

He averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists this past season. He shot 37 percent from three, but that percentage was down two percent compared to his freshman year.

The Hornets struggled on the defensive end last season, but have a stud in Miles Bridges, who has a chance to be an elite perimeter defender. Adding another guy who can lock up an opponent in Alexander-Walker could be a nice move.

Alexander-Walker will draw a lot of attention during the Draft Combine. If the Hornets are looking for a guard with their pick, Alexander-Walker may be one of the best on the board at that point of the draft.
