No. 1 – New Orleans Pelicans:

Zachary Padmore: Zion Williamson. (Duke)

“The Pelicans shocked the world by winning the Draft Lottery, and now they will make the easiest pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, selecting Zion Williamson. Could this pick convince Anthony Davis to back out of his trade request? Maybe, but if not, the future is still bright in New Orleans.

Williamson is one of the most intriguing prospects in recent memory. His size and athleticism is jaw dropping at times, and he would work well next to Davis, or even Julius Randle, who had a breakout season in 2018-19. Pelicans fans will be blessed to see this kid suit up in New Orleans for a very long time.”

Giovanni Spillman: Zion Williamson. (Duke)

“This pick is a no brainer for the New Orleans Pelicans. They were projected to have a spot in the middle of the lottery, but they lucked out and got the #1 overall pick. The Pelicans have been searching or a way to keep Anthony Davis, and if they want to do this, they will need to draft Zion Williamson.

Williamson can play either the three or four spot, and it will depend on Julius Randle’s decision to stay with the team in free agency. Williamson is a great prospect who can help save the New Orleans franchise.”
