No. 19 – San Antonio Spurs:

Zachary Padmore: Talen Horton-Tucker. (Iowa State)

“The Spurs have an incredible player development staff, which is why snagging someone like Talen Horton-Tucker in the first round could be well worth it in the long run. Horton-Tucker, a freshman from Iowa State, is still just 18 years old, but is oozing with upside.

He’s 6’4″, but has an incredible 7’1″ wingspan, which makes him an intriguing player on the defensive end. He’s another guy who has a strong frame and that will help him right away at the next level.

He probably won’t make a major impact for the first few years of his career, but if you are patient with him, like the Spurs usually are with their draft picks, he could be a major steal.”

Giovanni Spillman: Charles Bassey. (Western Kentucky)

“It’s no secret that the Spurs are searching for a center who can lock down the front court with LaMarcus Aldridge. The only clear selection at this point in the draft would be Charles Bassey, an efficient scoring center from Western Kentucky.

Bassey is built nice and has the ability to finish through contact when in the post. He finished with 2.4 blocks per game, and this seems like the kind of defensive consistency that the Spurs need. He also lacks a true perimeter game, but I think that his defensive abilities make up for that. If he is selected here, I think he’ll make Coach Popovich very happy.”
