No. 29 – San Antonio Spurs (VIA TOR):
Zachary Padmore: Bruno Fernando. (Maryland)
“I’m not as high on Bruno Fernando as others, but I do think he has a chance to land in the first round. He’s a big body that has great post moves, but with the NBA moving away from post players, he’ll have to be effective on the offensive end in different ways.
Fernando is a good athlete and would be another good project for the Spurs. He has some good moments defensively and may be more NBA ready than some of his peers, which will certainly help his game translate. I think he’ll have a chance to stick around in the NBA as a role player.
Giovanni Spillman: Tyler Herro. (Kentucky)
“With the San Antonio Spurs’ last selection in the first round, I would suggest that they take a chance on Tyler Herro. Herro proved to be an efficient scorer while averaging 14 points per game for Kentucky. He started in all thirty-seven games that he played in for Kentucky and proved that he was a reliable option for Wildcats on the perimeter.
He’s a decent perimeter shooter, and I think his ability to shoot beyond the arc would tremendously help the Spurs. For a shooting guard, he stands at 6’5 and also has a knack for finding a way to commit turnovers against opposing teams. He’s a great late round prospect for the Spurs, and I see him playing a role in the Spurs’ guard rotation.”
