Charlotte Hornets NBA Draft: 5 projected undrafted players to take a chance on
No. 4: Kenny Wooten (Oregon)
During his brief two-year career at Oregon, Kenny Wooten showed a ton of promise as a rim protector. He averaged 2.6 blocks in just 19.8 minutes as a freshman, and averaged 2.2 blocks this past season as a sophomore. He’s a raw prospect, but has a lot of upside defensively.
Offensively, he’s mostly just going to give you dunks and layups. He doesn’t shoot the ball well from the perimeter, so he’ll have to work on that as he transitions to the next level. He only averaged 6.4 points in two years at Oregon, but you don’t have to run plays for him, which can be a plus.
He will always be active around the basket, searching for offensive rebounding opportunities and easy buckets.
The Hornets have made adding rim protection a priority this summer, and while Wooten wouldn’t play very much right away, he could be a good project for them, and maybe turn into the rim protector they are looking for. His shot blocking is his best attribute.
Wooten should have no problem drawing some NBA interest thanks to that defensive potential. If he can develop other areas of his game, we could be looking at a legit prospect here in Wooten.
