No. 1: Jarrell Brantley (College of Charleston)

Here we have a player in Brantley who has already had a pre-draft workout with the Hornets. In fact, Brantley has also worked out for Boston and Philadelphia and has workouts lined up with many other teams. He’s improved his draft stock significantly and is certainly on NBA radar.

The bulky forward had a big senior season, averaging 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He shot 52 percent from the floor, 33 percent from deep and 79 percent from the foul line. Brantley played with current Hornets guard Joe Chealey in college for three seasons.

He may not be the best shooter from the perimeter, but he has shown that he is capable of shooting the long ball. He’ll need to work on his consistency in that area. Brantley has good size at 6’7″ and has an NBA ready body.

He’s a tough young man that works hard, and I think he’ll get a lot of looks from NBA teams if he does indeed go undrafted. Brantley would be a good prospect to develop in the G-League and maybe one day he can be a rotation piece.

There are always hidden gems in the NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets are just going to have to find them, and they could be available as an undrafted free agent. Next month’s NBA Draft will certainly be a fun one.
