Charlotte Hornets Round-Table: 7 questions regarding Kemba Walker’s free agency
By De White
Why would you want Kemba to stay in Charlotte?
Zachary: I would want Kemba to stay in Charlotte because I feel like there isn’t very much loyalty in the NBA today. So many stars are leaving the team that drafted them or even forcing their way out of a situation, which is fine, but I respect players who stick with the team that drafted them through everything. I know that he is a loyal guy, but I also know that he wants to win, which is going to make his free agency very interesting.
Caleb: Mr. Walker should stay in Charlotte because of how much he has already done for the franchise. If I was him, I would probably want out because of the disappointing roster moves, or lack of moves, to surround him with over the years. If I’m him, I have to consider how at the end of my career staying with one team looks. He would be considered a hero for sticking with this franchise for so long to the Charlotte community. Kemba should look also at the young talent that looks promising like Devonte’ Graham, Miles Bridges, Dwayne Bacon, and this year’s draft class. I think Kemba wants to win a playoff series with Charlotte and will make it happen by re-signing and trying again.
Elijah: You couldn’t ask for a better face for a franchise. Kemba exemplifies not only the Hornets, but Charlotte as a whole. Despite being one of the best point guards in the NBA, he still flies under the radar when talking heads are debating the league’s best players. The best part is that it doesn’t bother Kemba at all. On top of being one of the most likable NBA players, he’s humble, puts his head down, gets the job done, and with little or no bravado. He’s the perfect leader.
Filippo: His journey in the NBA is our journey, our destinies are bounded really close and i think that’s not the right end for this story. He deserves a good playoff run, but in teal. I would really like him to be our captain next years because i love him as a person and as a basketball player. He is an All-NBA why shall I refuse him?
Vincent: He is the greatest player in Hornets’ history, I do not see why anyone would not want him to stay in Charlotte. For the time that he has been in Charlotte, he has done nothing but carry his team on his back and be a friendly player in the NBA. I want Walker to stay in Charlotte because it’s his home, and he deserves to have a successful career with one team.
De: Kemba has been through the highs and lows of being a Hornet. Taken us as high as any other Hornet in its short history. Shown nothing but loyalty and grit. Dude has more than earned his role in this organization. I won’t say he’s the same caliber, but Kemba is definitely Charlotte’s iteration of Dwyane Wade.
