As the franchise leader in points, three’s, etc., why would the Hornets give him up when he’s done so much?

Zachary: The one and only reason why the Hornets would get rid of Kemba would be that they are ready to rebuild and look towards the future. They already have some good young talent in place with Miles Bridges, Malik Monk and others in town, and adding more young pieces along with assets is a good way to start a rebuild. Walker is going to command a ton of money in free agency, and you have to wonder if Charlotte hesitates handing him a $221 million supermax contract.

Caleb: The Hornets should know how much of an outrage it would be to just give him up. Fans are already impatient and misunderstanding of the franchise’s motives as it is. The only way I see them giving him up is if it is for Coby White. Coby is one of the top point guards in this draft, but the Hornets should focus on the surrounding cast of Kemba. Saving $200 million would be a good motive, but it would be hard to sign other free agents with that money without Kemba Walker.

Elijah: They’d do so if the team was going to go through another rebuilding process. As much as I want him to stay a Hornet throughout his entire career, it’s not fair to him to waste the four or five good years he has left on a team starting over. It’s the right thing to do for a player who wants to win now.

Filippo: The only part that slows me down is, obviously, related to the cap situation. No doubt he is a great player and a symbol for the city, but his 221 per 5 years contract could stuck our salary cap for a while.

Vincent: The Hornets have no reason to give up on Walker. He’s done nothing but commit everything to the Charlotte franchise. If Charlotte wants to stay loyal to their star player, they need to re-sign him. I do not see any way that Charlotte would want to give him up. The Hornets have gotten so much from Walker, and it’s hard just to picture a situation where the Hornets just do not want him anymore.

De: The absolute only reason that the team would give up him would be if he gave up wanting to be here. I wholeheartedly believe that the team wants to keep him and that he wants to be here, so I think that Michael Jordan and Mitch Kupchak will find a way to pay him.
