Charlotte Hornets Draft: 7’7″ Tacko Fall scheduled to workout for Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets continue to host plenty of prospects for this month’s NBA Draft, and will soon be bringing in the tallest player in the draft, Tacko Fall.
One of the more intriguing players in this years draft class would be UCF’s Tacko Fall, who stands 7’7″ tall with an 8’2″ wingspan. He may not be viewed as a first round pick, but I am expecting a team to take him in the second round.
The Charlotte Hornets, along with multiple other teams, are scheduled to bring in Fall for a pre-draft workout sometime soon, according to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins. Charlotte owns the 36th and 55th pick in the second round of the draft, which will take place on June 20th.
Fall would be a good project for any team picking in the second round. First off, you can’t teach size, and at 7’7″ tall, he has plenty of that. Secondly, he has skill to go with that size. Today’s era of basketball is more about “small ball”, but Fall can still be used in situations and should have a good professional career wherever he ends up.
He averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game for UCF this past season while shooting an incredible 75 percent from the floor.
Here’s what our very own Giovanni Spillman had to say about Fall in a recent article:
"I am excited about Fall entering this year’s draft, and I think his strength and enormous size could be used in the Hornets’ frontcourt. He’s not first round talent, but I could see him falling to the Hornets in the second round if they decided to pick him."
He’s improved his hands tremendously throughout his college career. He’s able to catch tough passes, gather and finish around the basket. Fall is also a good shot blocker, which you would expect for a man his size.
Quite a lot of people have compared him to 76ers center Boban Marjanovic, who is currently the tallest player in the league, but Fall will claim that title once he enters the league. That’s a good comparison for Fall; time will tell if he can make an impact on the NBA game like Marjanovic does.
One thing that the Hornets are trying to improve upon this summer is rim protection, and that’s one thing that Fall will bring to the NBA. He won’t make an impact right away, but like I said earlier, he would be a great project for a team like Charlotte.
The Charlotte Hornets have done a great job bringing in multiple prospects for pre-draft workouts. They’ve been extremely active leading up to the draft, and who knows what will happen, but targeting a guy like Tacko Fall in the second round would be a fun addition to the squad.
