The Charlotte Hornets are set to watch Marvin Williams make personal history in the 2019-20 season. This will be Williams’ sixth season with Charlotte.
The Charlotte Hornets will be bringing back Marvin Williams for his sixth season with the team. As a Hornet, Williams has done a lot of great things for the team; one of them being his ability to shoot from the perimeter.
Williams is set to play in his 15th NBA season next season, and he has a lot of personal history to make. After four straight seasons of making 100+ threes, he joins Kevin Durant in this category.

If Williams does play next season, he’s set to make his 1000th NBA three-pointer, and a majority of his threes has come since he came to Charlotte. As a Hornet, he has made 637 threes; this is about 65% of his career threes.
Behind Dell Curry, Williams is currently in third place of the Hornets’ all-time three-point leaderboard. Williams is set to hold this place for a while, as the closest player on the Hornets that can pass him is Nicolas Batum, and he’s likely not going to catch him.
Marvin Williams was not known for his three-point shooting earlier in his career, as he scored a majority of his buckets from inside the arc. As he has gotten older, Williams has been having the best stretch of his career with his perimeter shooting.
Williams had his second best season from beyond the arc last season, and he could potentially look to be even better in this category next season. More consistency with his perimeter shooting next season could allow Williams to be more deadly from three-point range.
In terms of defense, Williams is also set to grab his 800th career steal. Williams is currently ranked 10th on the Hornets’ all-time steals record with 312, and he could potentially pass Brevin Knight next season, who had 355 steals with Charlotte.
Williams has always been known because of his play on the Atlanta Hawks, but I think when he retires, he will be remembered as one of Charlotte’s greats. With his effort and determination, Williams has worn Larry Johnson’s number with pride.
