Charlotte Hornets 2019 NBA Mock Draft Vol. 3: Full Two-Round Projections
Once pegged as a lock for the top-ten, Rui Hachimura will be able to contribute right away for the team that drafts him. His physical attributes — brute strength and long wingspan — will help him immensely at the next level. He won’t get pushed around as a rookie.
That being said, he’s obviously way ahead of schedule physically. As far as skills go, Hachimura is fairly polished. His jump-shot isn’t broken, but it does need some work. He shot nearly 42-percent from three as a Junior at Gonzaga, but only attempted 36 of them in 37 games played.
He makes his money in the paint and in the post. He nearly shot 60-percent from the field. Hachimura did a really good job of getting to the free-throw line last season, averaging six attempts per game. He knocked them in at a 74 percent clip. Not great, but not bad, either.
Overall, Hachimura averaged 19.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season for the Zags. As noted, he has a chance to contribute right away. Indiana would be a good landing spot for him, especially with Thaddeus Young set to hit the free agent market this summer.
