69. Scouting Report. PF. ZION WILLIAMSON. player. Pick Analysis. DUKE. 1

Be honest, you were rubbing your chin while looking at the ceiling wondering who on earth the Pelicans were going to select first overall.

Joking aside, this is the clear pick for the New Orleans Pelicans. We’ve known for months now that Williamson will be going first overall, and he’ll be going to a really intriguing situation. New Orleans will have a chance to build a REALLY nice core around Williamson and Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best defenders in the NBA.

During his lone season at Duke, Williamson averaged an incredible 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks, which racking up plenty of accolades in the process. Williamson has perennial NBA All-Star written all over him.

The whole Anthony Davis trade fiasco is still ongoing, but you can expect him to be traded away sooner rather than later. The Pelicans should get a really nice package for the All-Star power forward, which will only add to the crop of talent New Orleans is putting together.

Williamson has an elite combination of size, speed, athleticism and skill. I haven’t seen a prospect like Williamson in a very long time, if ever. We’re talking about a generational talent here, so this is the easiest pick of the night. Pelicans fans will be blessed to see this young man suit up for their franchise for a very long time.
