Charlotte Hornets 2019 NBA Mock Draft Vol. 3: Full Two-Round Projections
After a bit of a disappointing 2018-19 season, Luka Samanic went into the Draft Combine as a projected second round draft pick. After balling out in the five-on-five scrimmages, Samanic walked out grinning ear to ear and a near lock for the first round.
Samanic is drawing a ton of interest as we get closer to the draft. He’s extremely skilled for a big man, and a team like San Antonio, who have had major success with international prospects, could look at him in the first round.
First off, Samanic has gotten a lot stronger over the past year. He’s worked really hard on his body and it shows. He’s also shown that he can step outside and hit the three-point shot, and even put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He’s an interesting offensive talent with his size and skill set.
Defensively is where I worry about him. He’s going to have to put in work in that area. Whether he’s guarding on the perimeter or guarding around the basket, teams want to see him get better in that department. He’s not a great athlete either, but he does move pretty well for his size.
Overall, Samanic is quickly becoming a favorite among scouts. There’s a lot to like about this prospect.
