One of the smartest and more steady players in this draft class is Virginia’s Ty Jerome. The 6’5″ guard is fresh off a National Championship and is a prime target for a few teams picking late in the first round of the draft. Brooklyn would land an immediate contributor with this pick, which is sometimes hard to do with a late first rounder.

Jerome is so crafty and fun to watch. He uses his size to his advantage and is able to see over the defense. He plays at his own pace and doesn’t make very many mistakes. He’s a very good shooter and decision maker, which is why many think he will have a long career as a backup guard.

He averaged 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists for Virginia this past season, while shooting an efficient 40 percent from deep. He’s a good all-around guard and was arguably Virginia’s best and most consistent playing during their run to the National Championship game against Texas Tech.

Whoever takes Jerome in the draft is getting a smart player that should be a rotational player for many years to come. He doesn’t have star upside, but he’s going to be around in the NBA for a long time thanks to his IQ and overall feel for the game.
