MURRAY STATE. JA MORANT. player. Scouting Report. PG. 2. 211. Pick Analysis

Just like how Zion Williamson is a lock for New Orleans, Ja Morant should be a lock for Memphis here with the second overall pick.

Coming off a monster sophomore season (24.5 points, 10.0 assists, 5.7 rebounds, NCAA Tournament bid), Morant established himself as the second best player in this draft class. He would be the perfect point guard for the Grizzlies, who are in the middle of a transition to a new era.

With the Morant selection, Memphis can now safely trade away Mike Conley for more assets to help with their rebuild. Conley has done everything for the Grizzlies organization, but it’s clear that his time in Memphis is coming to an end. One of the more underrated point guards in recent memory handing the keys over to Morant would be ideal.

This gives Memphis a really exciting young duo of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. Both players are futures stars in this league and will have Memphis competitive in the Western Conference at some point in the future.

This should be a pretty easy pick for the Grizzlies organization. I really like the direction they are going. Morant has a chance to be the next  star point guard in the league.
