Scouting Report. PG. CARSEN EDWARDS. 30. Pick Analysis. PURDUE. player. 89

You likely know who Carsen Edwards is due to his prolific 2019 NCAA Tournament run. Edwards led the Purdue Boilermakers to the Elite Eight, where they lost to the eventual National Champion Virginia Cavaliers.

Edwards averaged 35 points per game through 4 tournament games, knocking down the most three-pointers in tournament history of 28.  The misconception of Edwards’ game is that he played at this level all season long. He averaged 24.3 points per game during his Junior season at Purdue.

He might not be the most efficient pro — he shot under 40-percent from the field last season — but he’ll get buckets. That’s the thing that he will do best at the next level: score. He’s not going to get you very many assists.

At pick 30, though, getting a guy who can average double-figures off the bench is big. Edwards is a a safe bet to succeed simply because his scoring ability. He’s small, but he has more heart than he does height. One can hope he ends up having a Lou Williams like career.

This would be a great pick for the Bucks, who lack depth at point guard. Their starter, Eric Bledsoe, had some head-scratching moments all season long. The Bucks extended him, but it would be smart to develop a young point guard in the meantime.
