Charlotte Hornets 2019 NBA Mock Draft Vol. 3: Full Two-Round Projections
It’s starting to look like the Lakers could very well trade this pick before the draft, but if they end up keeping it, selecting Jarrett Culver would be their best bet. Culver is the best player on the board, in my opinion, and I believe he has a chance to be a really good two-way player in the NBA.
Culver is already very good defensively, and he improved a ton offensively during his sophomore year at Texas Tech. He averaged 18.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Red Raiders this past season. He also averaged 1.5 steals per game.
Culver would be stepping into a situation in Los Angeles where he would have to provide more of a supportive role next to LeBron James, which could make his transition to the NBA smoother. He has all the tools to be a well-rounded player thanks to his ball handling, passing and ability to get into the paint and create.
The one area where Culver is going to have to make improvements is with his jump shot. He hit just 30 percent of his three-pointers this past season, which was eight percent lower than his freshman campaign. If he can add a consistent jumper to his arsenal, the sky is the limit for him.
