Charlotte Hornets 2019 NBA Mock Draft Vol. 3: Full Two-Round Projections
Garland is another very intriguing prospect. We haven’t gotten to see a whole lot of him. He suffered a season-ending meniscus injury just five games into his lone college season and he left the draft combine early after supposedly receiving a promise from a team.
Despite all of that, scouts still have a good idea of what Garland can do at the next level. Phoenix, who desperately need a point guard, would be a great landing spot for the former Vanderbilt guard. They could even sign a veteran point guard to help ease his transition into the big league.
Garland has good height at 6’3″, but he definitely lacks strength. He’s going to need to live in the weight room and focus on getting stronger throughout his rookie season. He’ll get pushed around, but so do a lot of rookie guards.
He is one of the better shooters in the draft, and that’s the one part of his game that will translate to the NBA right away. He’s got deep range, he see’s the floor well and he competes defensively. The Suns have been adding so many young pieces for years now, but Garland could be a true difference maker.
