What would that mean for the current players?

Vincent: A second-round choice like Fall would mean that the Hornets would have depth at their center position. Fall may have to spend some time in Greensboro with the Swarm, but I think he has the ability to blossom into a nice inside threat for Charlotte.

Caleb: As new talent comes every year, young players that bounce from the Swarm to the Hornets have to stay on their toes. The core of young talent the Hornets have at their disposal right now is better than years past and could be a benefit for Charlotte if used in trading. Guys like Dwayne Bacon and Devonte’ Graham are going to have to fight harder than ever for a roster spot with more competition coming. This Hornets summer league team will be a force to be reckoned with.

Filippo: If we end up drafting a guard or a PG, it would be a challenge for our sophomore Devonte’ Graham, he could feel bad for his minutes. By the way Borrego always showed love for using combo guards, even playing 3 guard at the same time, so it just could be challenging too. If we end up drafting a PF, Marvin should take a step back, he’s getting older and he’ll give up some minutes, even Hernangomez could see his minutes going down.

Elijah: I don’t see anyone Charlotte drafting making much of an impact, but I could be wrong. You may find a diamond in the rough, but with this pick, I think they’re mainly picking a role player or someone to complement the starters.

Zack: Charlotte has already been very active on the trade market ahead of the draft, and I don’t think that will change, even if they do end up keeping their 12th overall pick. There is a sense of urgency surrounding the franchise, as they have a lot of pressure to build a winning team around Kemba Walker. No matter who they pick on later this month, the Hornets will remain aggressive in shopping some of the current players on the roster.

De: I think it’ll finally mean a transition from older vets that’ve been passed throughout the league to young assets that can actually play on their own. Bridges should be better in year two, Graham will probably be the reserve guard, Bacon will have plenty of opportunity to contribute, and one of the new guys would possibly be a starter or early contributor until he’s able to command the position.
