Charlotte Hornets: Kemba Walker’s best teammate from each season of his career
While Charlotte Hornets star Kemba Walker has played with many good players, they haven’t surrounded him with the right talent. Here’s a look at his best teammate year by year.
With a potential Kemba Walker departure looming over the Charlotte Hornets franchise, now seems like a good time to look at what went wrong when constructing a team around him. Walker is by no means guaranteed to be leaving, but you can’t blame him if he does.
He will have a much better opportunity to win elsewhere, especially considering the Hornets really can’t do much at this point to improve the roster around him. They’re strapped for cash and want to avoid the luxury tax. Paying him is going to be difficult, and building around him will be even more difficult until some of the poor contracts they are stuck with expire.
In eight seasons in the NBA, Walker has been to the playoffs just two times. They showed some promise during the 2015-16 season by nearly winning a first round series against the Miami Heat, but since then, it’s been a struggle, despite Walker’s incredible improvement during that period of time.
Walker is coming off his best season as a professional, averaging 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists. He led the Hornets all season long, but in the end, they came up short and missed out on the 2019 NBA Playoffs by just one game.
Today, we’re going to be taking a look at Walker’s best teammate from each season he has been in the league. He’s played with All-Star talent before, but he’s also played with not enough talent. If this is the end of Kemba Walker in a Hornets uniform, then it’s sad to think about some of the failed seasons that took place.
Let’s start things off with Walker’s best teammate from the most recent 2018-19 season. This should be a pretty obvious choice.
