Charlotte Hornets: Kemba Walker’s best teammate from each season of his career
2017-18 best teammate: Dwight Howard
At times during the 2017-18 season, Dwight Howard looked like an All-Star. The Hornets acquired the future Hall of Famer in a trade during the summer of 2017, hoping his physical play and presence in the paint would help them take a leap.
Instead, they finished with the same amount of wins (36) as they had the year before. Despite that, Walker and Howard both had tremendous seasons. Walker averaged 22.1 points and 5.6 assists, while Howard averaged 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds.
This is similar to how it was with Lamb this past season. Charlotte got great production from Walker and Howard, but struggled to find consistent play from anyone else. If you want to be a playoff team, you need production from your roster top to bottom, and that just wasn’t the case for the past two seasons.
Howard had a pretty underrated season. He was healthy, playing in 81 games, and gave them a force down low. He even had a 32 point, 30 rebound game against the Nets. I mean, he was a beast for the Hornets, so it’s a shame that this was only a one-year partnership. Overall, Howard is definitely one of the better teammates that Walker has had during his career.
