Charlotte Hornets: Kemba Walker’s best teammate from each season of his career
2016-17 best teammate: Nicolas Batum
Plenty of Hornets fans are disgusted with his play right now, but during his first two seasons in Charlotte, Nicolas Batum was playing some pretty darn good basketball. He’s always been more of a complimentary player, and would probably be at his best as a third/fourth option, like he was in Portland, rather than second.
During the 2016-17 season, Batum put up averages of 15.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists, but his efficiency was down from the previous season. He’s always been an all-around threat and was someone that could have had an occasional triple-double on some nights.
Batum can still do things to take the pressure off of Walker, but he’s nowhere near aggressive as he used to be. He seems hesitant to shoot at times, and that wasn’t always the case during his first two years in Charlotte. The fans would love to see him get back to his old ways, but I’m not sure if I see that happening any time soon, if at all.
Batum was and still is a good player, but he is not the kind of guy you want as the second wheel of a playoff team.
