2013-14 best teammate: Al Jefferson

The 2013-14 version of Al-Jefferson was easily the best player that played with Kemba Walker. Jefferson, who was not named an All-Star but was named to the All-NBA Third Team, averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists and led the then Bobcats to the playoffs.

Remember, at this point in time, Walker wasn’t nearly the kind of player that he is today. Still, looking at his best teammates every year does put things in perspective. In order to truly contend in this league, you’ll need multiple stars, and Big Al was the best the Hornets could give him.

Jefferson was so fun to watch during this season. I remember him carving up the Lakers in the post during one game. He finished with 40 points and 18 rebounds, showing off his bag of tricks with some beautiful post moves.

Today’s NBA has really shied away from post players, but I must say, I really miss seeing a guy like Al Jefferson just destroy teams in the post. I could watch this guy play basketball all day long. It would have been really interesting to see the best version of Al Jefferson play together with the best version of Kemba Walker.
