The 2019-20 will be a great opportunity for the Charlotte Hornets’ young players, so here is what each youngster needs to work on this off-season.

After losing Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics to open Free Agency, it instantly became clear that the Charlotte Hornets would be a rebuilding team. If that is indeed the case, then playing time will be wide open for the young players during the 2019-20 season.

Charlotte has put together a pretty solid young core. It’s not the best in the league, obviously, but it’s also not the worst in the league. I think the Hornets are in a better spot than people give them credit for. Today, we’ll be looking at what those young players need to improve on this off-season in order to make a jump.

This is what the Hornets young core looks like — Dwayne Bacon, Miles Bridges, Devonte’ Graham, Willy Hernangomez, Cody Martin, Jalen McDaniels, Malik Monk, Terry Rozier and PJ Washington. Like I said, not bad at all. I’m excited to watch these guys develop in the future.

We’ll get our first look at two of the three rookies, Martin and McDaniels, during the Las Vegas Summer League, which begins on July 5th. Washington will likely miss Summer League with a foot injury. Charlotte will open Summer League with a game against the Golden State Warriors, who also have three drafted rookies this year.

Let’s get things started and begin with what Dwayne Bacon should be working to improve on this summer.
