Devonte’ Graham: Shooting

Devonte’ Graham is a smart player, he makes good decisions and has shown that he is capable of running an offense, but he’s going to have to improve as a shooter in order to earn more minutes. He shot just 28 percent from downtown as a rookie, and 34 percent overall.

Some thought that Graham could be in line for the starting job after Walker agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics, but that didn’t last, as the Hornets quickly agreed to a deal with Terry Rozier. With Tony Parker retiring, Graham should be the full-time backup point guard in 2019-20.

It will be interesting to see if they use him in more two-guard lineups this upcoming season. Remember, Graham made three starts last season at the shooting guard spot. If he continues to improve his range, he could be even better at that position. Regardless, he’s going to get some good minutes next season.

If Graham can focus on developing his jumper, while improving in all other areas as well, like all NBA players do, then I think that he can be a high-level backup in the NBA.
