Charlotte Hornets: Predicting the 2019-20 season depth chart
Shooting Guard
1. Nicolas Batum
I know many fans will roll their eyes with this pick, but Batum is a veteran who gave Charlotte some productive minutes at the two spot last season. He spent a lot of the season playing small forward, but he played well when he was moved to shooting guard after the All-Star break.
In just twelve games as the team’s starting shooting guard last season, Batum managed to average 13.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. After those games, he missed a handful of games due to injury.
If Batum wants to succeed at his role as a starter, he will need to begin next season more consistent. I expect him to play well in Charlotte’s game in France next season.
2. Malik Monk
I was hesitant not to name Monk as the starter, but I think he could eventually move into that role later in the season. Monk has not started a game yet in the league, but he should expect to get more minutes than he got last season.
Last season was easily Monk’s best year with the team as he averaged 8.9 points and 1.6 assists per game. With this impressive play, Monk also managed to knock down 109 three-pointers on 33% shooting.
