Expectations for 2019-2020

Overall Bacon improved as a scorer and player this past season. Though he may have taken a step back on defense, his offensive production overcompensated and pushed his value as a player to a career-high. However, that new high still did not register at a level above what is expected of a replacement player.

Expect that to change this season.

With more chances to score and the loss of the Hornets’ main offensive threats in Jeremy Lamb and Kemba Walker, Bacon is poised to raise his PPG yet again.

Many of our Swarm and Sting contributors even foresee him being a candidate to lead the team in points for 2019-2020.  However, expect his make percentages to drop to more realistic levels as his number of attempts increases.

Bacon should also see far less time on the G-League roster this season, but do not be surprised if at any point he finds himself back in Greensboro for a few days if one of Charlotte’s new prospects receives a temporary call up. However, this should be the last season he receives any G-league consideration whatsoever.

Charlotte may not win many games this season, but we can expect Dwayne Bacon to be one of the bright spots for the Hornets. This year is undoubtedly Bacon’s chance to lock in his place among Charlotte’s young core. So expect the former Florida State Seminole to capitalize on this opportunity and give some validation to the growing hype that will follow him into the season.
