Bismack Biyombo

Bismack Biyombo mostly came off the bench last season for the Charlotte Hornets, but he was able to start a handful of games due to an injury to Cody Zeller. However, I see his role decreasing in 2019-20, which will likely be his last season as a member of the Hornets with his contract set to expire after the year.

The former seventh overall pick averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds for Charlotte last season. I thought when he was given playing time, he played pretty decently. His career has gone downhill after getting a monster four-year, $72 million deal from Orlando in 2016, but he can still serve as a reserve big coming off the bench.

However, I see the Hornets playing smaller a lot more often next season, and when they do go bigger, Cody Zeller and Willy Hernangomez will soak up those minutes. Biyombo is far down in the rotation and there were even rumors that the team would use the stretch provision on his contract, but nothing ever surfaced.

He’ll get some minutes here and there, but overall, I’m not expecting to see much Bismack Biyombo this season in Charlotte. Injuries could open up some more time for him again, but it’s going to be tough for him to earn minutes.
