Charlotte Hornets: Predicting each players stats for the 2019-20 season
Robert Franks
Robert Franks signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets after going undrafted, which means he’ll spend the majority of his season in the G-League with the Greensboro Swarm. He’ll have up to 45 days with the Hornets and will spend the rest of his time working on his craft in the minor league.
His G-League stats will be a lot better than his NBA stats, considering he will get a lot more playing time and shots with the Swarm. I think Franks has NBA talent, and if Charlotte’s season goes south fast, maybe he can find some time with the Hornets or even get a standard NBA contract.
Franks is a tremendous shooter, but still has a lot of work to do. He needs to get stronger and work on everything else right now. His shooting translates right away, but his defense and decision making does not. Playing with the Swarm will give him the opportunity to work on those weaknesses before playing any meaningful NBA minutes.
I think snagging Franks on a two-way deal was a nice move. It was a low-risk option and it gives the Hornets the ability to keep a close eye on him while retaining his rights. He didn’t play much during Summer League, but look for him to have some big scoring games in the G-League next season.
